An absolute must for salad lovers, everything comes together beautifully in Green Tiding’s Little Gem Salad. We're as surprised as you that a salad topped our list this week of "things we are dying to try on Green Tiding's newest menu," but nevertheless, here we are.
Our Little Gem Salad combines so many textures and flavors all together, prepare your mouth. We start with a fluffy bed of little gem lettuce and red oak leaf lettuce combined. Julienned jicama adds a sweet-yet-starchy crisp. Our sliced black plums provide a bright pop of sweetness, while their purpled orange colors provide real vibrancy. Grilled asparagus contributes fresh earthy taste, while local blue cheese offers rich and creamy tones. Lastly, homemade ciabatta croutons leave you with a garlicky finale. Get dressed! We conclude off with white balsamic vinaigrette, a thick, sweet-tart, fruity finishing.
You might be asking, what the heck is a jicama? Sometimes referred to as a yam bean, a Mexican turnip, or a Mexican potato, a jicama is a tuber, part of the pea family, a fiber-rich powerhouse. It’s got a mild flavor, but is nutrient-dense. It adds a satisfying crunch to this dish, and we’re excited for you to give it a try!
